Corrections to published figures are the most useful thing you can send us.

If a specification on this site is wrong, we want to know. The most helpful correction names the product, the figure as published here, and what it should be — ideally with the manufacturer’s own listing or documentation as the source.

Errors here usually have one of three causes: a manufacturer restated a figure after we collected it, a listing changed, or our extraction misread a unit. The third is worth reporting hardest, because a unit misread affects every product publishing that field rather than one.

What we cannot help with

We cannot size a system for your room, and we would be doing you harm if we tried. The sizing check on this site compares a listing’s two numbers with each other; it knows nothing about your ceiling height, insulation, windows, climate or orientation. A Manual J load calculation accounts for all of those and it needs someone who can see the space.

We also cannot advise on installation. Refrigerant handling requires EPA certification, the electrical work requires an electrician, and getting either wrong has consequences a website should not be underwriting.

We are not a retailer and have no access to any order, delivery or warranty.

Press and data

The baselines here are computed from published manufacturer specifications and the method is documented in full. If you want to cite a figure — including a sizing check — that page describes how it was derived and what its limits are, and the limits are the part worth quoting.

What makes a correction actionable

The most useful corrections point at a specific figure on a specific page and say what it should be. “The coverage is wrong on the 12,000 BTU page” is hard to act on; “this model is listed at 750 sq ft but the manufacturer’s manual says 550” is a fix we can make and verify in minutes.

Reporting a listing that has changed

Manufacturers revise specifications quietly and listings are edited without notice, so a figure that was right when we collected it can be wrong by the time you read it. If a product page now says something different from what we publish, that is worth sending even when you cannot tell which of us is out of date.

Suggesting a specification we should compare

If there is a specification you weigh heavily and this site does not compare it, that is worth telling us. Sometimes the data does not exist at sufficient coverage — HSPF2 and line set length are both in that position. Sometimes it simply has not occurred to us, and the distinction matters.
