Mini Split Data earns commission from qualifying purchases made through links on this site. This page explains how that works and what it does and does not influence.
The short version
Links to Amazon carry an affiliate tag. If you follow one and buy something, Amazon pays us a small percentage. You pay the same price you would have paid otherwise — the commission comes out of Amazon’s margin, not out of your pocket.

Mini Split Data is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
What it does not influence
Commission does not affect which products appear, the order they appear in, or the figures published about them. The comparisons here are computed from published specifications by a process with no input for how much a product pays.
It cannot touch the sizing check either, which is one published number divided by another. There is no version of that arithmetic that flatters an expensive unit — and it frequently reflects badly on units we would earn most from, because the boldest coverage claims are not confined to the cheap end.
No manufacturer has paid for placement, and none has been given the opportunity to. We do not accept sponsored reviews, paid inclusion, or free samples — the last of which would be moot, since we do not test.
Prices and availability
We do not publish exact prices. They change constantly, and a figure captured when the data was collected would be wrong by the time you read it. Note also that installation is frequently comparable to the equipment cost unless you are buying a DIY unit, and no listing prices it.
How the links are built
Affiliate links are generated when a page is rendered, from a single tag stored once in the site’s configuration. Page content does not carry the tag: it can be changed without rewriting anything, and a scraped copy of a page does not carry our tag with it.
Outbound affiliate links are marked with the sponsored attribute, the signal search engines ask publishers to use for commissioned links.
What we would have to change to mislead you
The comparisons here are computed. A page shows a unit’s claimed coverage against the median for its own band, and both figures come from the same pipeline that processes every other unit. To favour a product we would have to alter either its published specification or the baseline it is measured against, and the second would change every page in that class.
That is not a claim about our integrity. It is a description of how the system is built, which is the sort of claim you can check.
Why this matters to you
Affiliate income is how this site is funded, and you are entitled to know that when you read it. The alternatives — sponsored placement, paid inclusion, manufacturer relationships — all put pressure directly on the thing this site is for.
